Sunday Bible Study: Luke 24:13-35
Updated: Apr 29, 2020
On this Third Sunday of Easter, we explore the unexpected encounter between two disciples and Jesus on the first Easter day. The theme of this lesson: "a journey of disappointment that ends with a time of unexpected joy."
Our Scripture passage is found in the Gospel according to Luke, which may be found by following the provided link: (Luke 24:13-35).
For continuing study on your own, reflect on these questions (found in the study guide below): After reading the Scripture passage (see link above), what emotions do you think the disciples might have experienced as they walked along the road, both before and after meeting the stranger (Jesus)?; reflect on the differences between what they thought Jesus had come to do among them and what the stranger (Jesus) is teaching them Jesus was sent by God to actually do; the early Christians were called "people of the Way"...what do you think a life of "journeying with God" has to do with our relationships with God and other people we meet and live with?; after reading the "WHERE is God in these words" paragraph below, reflect on the meaning stated by the author, "hospitality becomes the doorway to grace", and how can each of us express care and hospitality to others, and how might we become paths to grace for others?
