On this Fourth Sunday in Lent, we will consider the gift of God's saving grace, given to us through the life, love, and redemption of Jesus Christ. As described in verse eight of our study Scripture: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."
Our Scripture passage is found in the Letter to the Ephesians. You may find the Scripture lesson by selecting the following link: (Ephesians 2:1-10).
For continuing study, reflect on these questions (found in the study guide below):
After reading the Scripture lesson, reflect on the passage and consider if there are any words or phrases that had particular meaning or significance for you.
Read the "WHAT..." paragraph in the study guide below, and reflect on the question: how would you define "grace" from God?
After reading the "WHERE..." paragraph below, what do you believe is the relationship between God's grace and good works that are done? Are "grace" and "good works" connected, and if so, how? Reflecting on your own life, how do you see moments in your life that reflect the author's comment, "We are playing a privileged role in God's plan."
After reading the "SO WHAT..." paragraph below, consider the author's comments about how God is transforming and redeeming our lives; and reflect how these moments of transformation have the purpose of helping us to live out God's plan for us.
