On this Eighth Sunday after Pentecost, we reflect on the apostle Paul's exhortations to the Christians in Rome regarding the incredible power of God's love, which saves us from all sorts of conditions and sins experienced throughout our lives. We will explore why Paul confidently told his Christian sisters and brothers to rely on God's love in all circumstances, and what Paul's message means for us today.

Our Scripture passage is found in Paul's Letter to the Romans, Chapter 8, which you can read by following this link: (Romans 8:26-39).

For continuing study, reflect on these questions (found in the study guide below):

  • Read the "WHAT..." paragraph in the study guide below, and reflect on what the words from our Scripture lesson mean to you during a time of loss or sorrow?

  • Read the "WHERE is God..." paragraph below, and reflect about a time of sorrow that prayer seems difficult; how have you found God's Spirit interceding for you in these times?

  • Considering the many difficulties the Apostle Paul faced in his life, what do you think may be the source of Paul's confidence that the Spirit is actively interceding for us at all times?
