As we gather on this Seventh Sunday of Easter, we reflect on the challenges of the continuing mission of Jesus Christ by the Apostle Paul and his companion, Silas. The two men and their group encounter some greedy men who are exploiting a young woman's ability to tell the future. Paul's exorcism of the spirit leads to challenging confrontation and mob violence against Paul and Silas. The story introduces further challenges in the lives of additional characters in the story - prompting us to reflect about how to live faithfully among the challenges and difficulties of life. How can we authentically and faithfully claim to live as followers of Jesus, surrounded by the challenges and injustices of our world?
