As we gather on this Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost, we hear Jesus tell his followers of a parable story of a widow, persistent in obtaining her purpose for justice. Similarly, Jesus tells that we must be persistent in our desire to pray to God in order to deepen our relationship with God and strive to obtain the love and justice God intends for us. Prayer can be an often misunderstood and challenging part of our spiritual lives and our connection to God, with so many expectations and assumptions placed on the act of prayer. Where is God, what if we don't "get what we prayed for," does God hear us all the time, etc. We will reflect on Jesus' hope for us in our prayerful connections to God.
